The change in my pocket

Hey there!

I just got back from a long weekend in Brunswick (northern Germany), visiting my brother. It wouldn’t necessarily come to mind, but Brunswick really is a pretty city (the old town is quite charming). I thought the fall weather and colourful leaves suited it rather well πŸ™‚

The day before I got there, Nico and I carved a pumpkin:

Our idea was to make it to look kinda like Jack Skellington from the Nightmare before Christmas, so I googled around and we ended up designing the face to resemble this one found on HaikuHeidi’s flickr photostream (we didn’t quite dare to try the Oogie Boogie one, we thought we’d leave that one to the pro’s ;)). Whaddya think?

Recently, I also made the odd card, like the two you can see on Dana’s new post. Among them, there’s this little birthday number:

I really like how this turned out and here’s the link to the original from Sarah Martina Parker that I drew the inspiration from. I’m glad Dana liked it, too πŸ™‚

Spending time with my brother also means watching cool movies and some Youtube stuff, just wanted to share my faves with you before I have to pop off:

That’s all, have a great week & see you soon!

Nope, I haven’t fallen off the face of the earth. It’s just that all the Xmas preparations have to be done by Friday and things are crazy busy over here. I guess you can relate, can’t you?

My favourite song at the moment….

Anyhow, I still have to make seven cards and several gifts, so I really need to get back to creating.
I hope you have a happy holiday season and get to create something πŸ™‚
See you around!

This card is a CASE from this wonderful card by Alli Miles – a classic example of a regular card transformed into a Christmas card.

* The title is a line in this very cool Rifles song.

Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?

Just popping by to say hi and to share a card.
On Thursday we saw “(500) Days of Summer” – very cool film. If you think about seeing it, take a look at this fun video (which is not included in the film, they did that just for fun).

Love love LOVE her outfit. And the song you hear is from Zooeys band “She & Him” – yep, not only is she stunning, a great actress, has a neat sense of style AND can dance – she also knows how to sing like a nightingale. Talk about fair… πŸ˜‰
Anyhow, it was a very enjoyable movie!

Yesterday the notorious Rollercoaster Party took place and since I didn’t catch an awful lot of sleep, I’m going to slouch on the couch for most of the day. Ready for my latest Xmas card?

Bye everyone!

Die Jahreszeit der klammen Finger

… ist angebrochen.

The weather gets cooler, I get sick, my favourite blogger Amber is whining again – gotta be autumn now, don’t you think?

Some random notes:

1. I need a new haircut.

2. I’m typing this from my new acer aspire, because my old laptop couldn’t be restored. This was super expensive and so I can’t buy any food until… summer next year. (Just kidding – winter next year is more likely…)

3. I already finished 10 layouts for The Album.

4. I still need to find an album to put them in though. Any recommendations?

5. I am really excited to see what Stampin’ Up! will have in their new catty that comes out the 1st of October.

6. The election of the German government will take place on the 27th and if you don’t know who to vote for I’d highly recommend the Wahl-O-Mat.

7. In case you don’t want to vote, please take a look at the following video featuring the very intelligent Ulrich Wickert (if you happen to understand any German).

7. If you don’t understand any German, you could watch the election-related video I posted some time ago featuring the wonderful Craig Ferguson instead.

8. Meet todays card:

hochzeit k

The sentiment was written with a black SU marker by yours truly πŸ˜‰ But it’s copied from the “French Script” font that I adore.

Gotta go to sleep now, have a good night!

There are many things that I am not

Hello everyone!

I would have posted earlier, but…
it’s the end of the semester and I have to meet some tough deadlines. So I won’t be posting much in the next time, sorry. OR I will be posting more than ever in the history of this blog-o, b/c I try to avoid doing what I am meant to do – we’ll see πŸ˜‰

On Saturday I got my goodies from the challenge over at Passion for Papertrey – yum YUM!
It was the first time I won and besides paper and ribbon I also got a very cute handmade card from Stephanie – who’ll hopefully soon announce where her new blog will be!!
Anyways, a huge THANK YOU goes to Steph and Kate for organizing the challenges and giving away those precious Papertrey items!

Of course I had to sit down and create something right away, so here’s a little card I made using the stuff I won:
lovebird felt

Whaddya think? The Dark Chocolate Cardstock as well as the Polka Dot Paper were in the lovely mail from the UK πŸ™‚ The day I made it, I made 7 cards in a row – I was on a roll…!

First was the following creation, made for the next Challenge over at A Passion For Papertrey: Use two flowers or more! I did so by using the flowers from PTIs Out on a Limb Set stamped in Landscape Palette Ink over Polka Dot Basics in Dark Chocolate plus the cutesy felt flower. The overall idea and layout came from Kristina Werners MACM Card.

In my next post I will show you pics from the earrings I made while staying in my hometown over the weekend, but this time I wanted to share three videos (1st one found via The Dingbats Agenda). They’re stop motion and seriously amazing. Enjoy & read you soon.

The Nicest Thing

I can’t actually type because my head feels like it’s going to explode any second, but if I was in the mood I would tell you that…

a) I won! I won! I won! On Monday, in the random drawing of A Passion For Papertreys Challenge. Totally made my day – a huge THANK YOU to these amazing girls for organizing the challenges! Of course I’ll let you know when I get my goodies!

b) Yesterday we went to Circus Flic Flac. It’s the only kind of circus I will ever go to, because it’s without animals. It was fabulous, a breathtaking show with incredible gymnastic artists, jaw-dropping performances in dizzying heights and eight bikers in a globe of steel. We were basically glued to our seats! For scrapping purposes I kept the tickets and both of us kept one of the glitter scraps that flew around at the end. πŸ™‚

c) I found two great things on Youtube, first of all the wonderful Kate Nash with the song that I used as a title for this post. Awesome lyrics. The other one is brought to you thanks to Thorsten. Now lean back and feel free to laugh your ass off πŸ˜€

See, now I told you what I’m up to despite being sick. Stupid swine flu πŸ˜‰
And on top of it all, I have to walk the dog now, damnit…
I guess complaining doesn’t help, so…
See you!

I was put on this earth to accomplish a certain number of things…

… Right now I’m so far behind I will never die. – Calvin from “Calvin and Hobbes”

*giggle*
I love Calvin and Hobbes.

Now as you might have heard in the news, on Sunday we’ll be voting for the new EU parliament. My favourite joke about the European election:
Interviewer: Who do you think will win in the European election?
Girl: Dunno, France?

πŸ˜€
Unfortunately, this was not meant to be a joke, because it was a real interview.
Today I voted by mail and I invite you to be my fellow European and go voting on Sunday.
If you want to live in a democratic society, to abstain from voting is not an option. Participating in the election is your duty. Here’s an appeal from Craig Ferguson, which holds true for any election, methinks.
Take a look:

The important part is at 7:13 if you can’t be bothered to watch the whole thing.

I’m off to do some research for the Monday conference now, because this Monday it will be my turn to do consecutive. o – m – g. knock on wood πŸ™‚

I’m not… Wonderwoman!

This title is brought to you courtesy of “Black Books”.*

Now I’m warning you, lengthy post with loads of pictures ahead!
Ha, you’re still there. Well then, here we go:

I made a stationery set for a friend of mine, now I’ll show you the ensemble in all its glory πŸ˜‰

ananas paper

As you can see, the first image depicts the 10 sheets of paper I stamped, the next three pics show the matching envelopes (I made 5 of each design) and the five final photos show the five coordinating cards of this set.

Now, what ties the set together can easily be seen:

First of all the paper – the basic paper is all the same kraft-like colour with a light structure (the envelopes look lighter in the pictures but IRL they’re the same colour), I added patterned paper from Basic Grey’s Wisteria Collection and of course some Very Vanilla, Dark Chocolate and Whisper White.

ananas one

Ink: 3 colours, namely PTI Dark Chocolate, Versacolor Amethyst and some Colorbox Frost White Pigment.

ananas two

Stamps: PTI Polka Dot Basics, PTI Mixed Messages, PTI Borders & Corners – Circles, Inkadinkado Birds Galore, Stampendous Mod Dot Butterfly.

ananas three

Ribbon: Papertrey Ink Plum Pudding in almost all its variations

ananas four

Accessories: punches (corner rounder!!), embossing powder, white & purple buttons, hemp twine, white thread, white gel pen, glossy accents… just to name a few πŸ˜‰

ananas five

Yes, the zig-zag border on the last card is hand-stitched, it was very useful to poke in the holes beforehand (using the template from SU’s Mat Pack) in order not to bend the cardstock too much.

buck buddeln

I just got a message saying that Buck will have to have a light anesthesia on Friday morning. He has something in his eye and the doc apparently wants to make sure it’s nothing serious. Now I know it’s not dangerous and all, but you know how this is, yet still I’m worried. So if you could think of Buck on Friday, I’d be very thankful.

Have a good night!

*If you have no idea what this might be, go watch the following clip:

Watch it. Now. You know you will regret it if you don’t.

Is it cos I’m … lazy

Here’s a little list because I can’t be bothered trying to link each topic to the other or writing something proper. Hee.

1. Yesterday we went to the movies and saw Slumdog Millionaire. Two words: MUST. SEE.
Loved every minute of it, very cool tracking shots, impressive pictures, great story. Something to laugh, something to cry, something to hold your breath. Perfect. Can totally see why it got so many awards.

2. Next movie to see is Religulous, because of the subject and because of this:

Still can’t believe he’s married now though ;D (obviously Craig, not Bill)

3. I just finished my strawberry pincushion. I never did anything like that before and I am very proud of it. The hand-embroidering wasn’t that easy since I didn’t even know how to do a blanket-stitch or a french knot. On the pattern it was all well-explained but I seem to be more of a visual type, so I learned both of them by looking at youtube videos πŸ™‚ Thank you youtube! And of course, thank you Heather Bailey for the pattern and the kit, can’t wait to make an apple pincushion πŸ™‚ BTW their customer service is great, too!

berry-sweet-1

Isn’t it pretty? Say it’s pretty.

4. Since I went cold turkey for three weeks, I did quite some crafting the last days. So prepare yourself for a feast πŸ˜‰

I’m off for a girls night out, can’t wait to see all of them again!
Cheerio!

Heartbreak Hotel

Happy belated New Year everyone!
I would’ve posted earlier, but I had a huge hangover πŸ˜‰ Okay, that was only one day and after that I was fine, but, you know… Nobody reads this anyway, so I can take a while off easily.
So, what are you up to, imaginary friends? As for me, I’m still on the lookout for a flat, and I’m so fed up. Heidelberg is a city you can’t find a nice place to live for a decent price, it’s really a pain in the… neck. I’m really looking forward to move into a new appartment, since the last time has been a little difficult for me and I reckon that I’ll be much better when my “new life” has finally started.
In the meantime I will present you another top ten: the “soundtrack” that fits the feelings I’ve had over the past months. I know these are not the most cheerful songs you’ve ever heard, but they’re really good. They’re kind of the “soundtrack” you’d hear in the elevator of my personal Heartbreak Hotel πŸ˜‰ So here you are:

01. Wie soll das gehn? – Laith al Deen
02. Better in Time – Leona Lewis
03. Gravity – Sara Bareilles
04. One Year Ago – Lene Marlin
05. Jordin Sparks ft. Chris Brown – No Air
06. Broken Strings – James Morrison ft. Nelly Furtado
07. Breakeven – The Script
08. Winter Song – Sara Bareilles & Ingrid Michaelson
09. If I were a boy – BeyoncΓ©
10. Everyday – Phil Collins

csk-sneak

And now before I go, one more thing: a sneak peek for something cool I made I’m going to show you in the next post…

Ah well, it’s already time to go to bed since I have to get up early tomorrow – I’ll see my colleagues again, yay!
