She’s thinkin’: How did I get here?

Just a quick update to let you know I’m still alive. Next Monday I’ll have an exam and I’ll do a consecutive interpretation* in our weekly conference, so I’ll be buried under paper, glossaries, to-do-lists and more paper…

The title is brought to you by Lily Allen. Cool lyrics and a matching video.

Anyway, here’s a card I made. If you have any questions, let me know!

*= Interpreting (Dolmetschen) is not to be mistaken with translating (Übersetzen), since the latter refers to a written transfer whereas interpreting is oral (consecutive = rendered after the speaker has finished, often with the help of special notation / simultaneous = rendered at the same time with the means of a sound-proof booth and headsets). [by no means is this a complete description]

Why Do You Let Me Stay Here?

Just popping by to say hi and to share a card.
On Thursday we saw “(500) Days of Summer” – very cool film. If you think about seeing it, take a look at this fun video (which is not included in the film, they did that just for fun).

Love love LOVE her outfit. And the song you hear is from Zooeys band “She & Him” – yep, not only is she stunning, a great actress, has a neat sense of style AND can dance – she also knows how to sing like a nightingale. Talk about fair… πŸ˜‰
Anyhow, it was a very enjoyable movie!

Yesterday the notorious Rollercoaster Party took place and since I didn’t catch an awful lot of sleep, I’m going to slouch on the couch for most of the day. Ready for my latest Xmas card?

Bye everyone!

Il n’y en a pas cent

… but today there are two posts!

Just because I promised to show you the baby album I made for my cousin and there’s a set of two cards to participate in another challenge. I tend to be a promise-keeper, see?! πŸ˜‰

First up the challenge: A Passion For Papertrey – Inspired by autumn. The Papertrey item is some of their Vintage Cream Topnotch Twill Ribbon. So pretty that I’ve just ordered another roll!

CIMG8810-1

My cards were not only inspired by autumn, but also shamelessly CASEd from this card by Maren Benedict (third picture). When I saw this I was reminded of my poor unused “Haunted” Rubons sitting in my drawer. So I just had to play along!

Soooo, now you’re going to lay eyes on aforementioned album. It’s relatively small (6×6″) and I made it with a template from Amy Celona.

There’s too much product involved to list it all, but if you have a question, I’ll be happy to answer it!

Some details about the album:

– In the first small photo you can see two wax sheets with handmade embellishments. I made them so that my cousin can also embellish her photos after she’s put them into the album.

– The large areas covered with patterned paper are for photos and I included quite some journaling lines for notes and thoughts.

– The words on page 3 say “It’s a girl”.

– On the center page I’ve included a see-through pocket for something like a lock of hair or the hospital bracelet of the baby. Above it is a line for the calculated date of birth .

– In the label on the right flap of the center page it says “My name is” and below there’s space for details about the actual date of birth, time of birth, length, weight, hair and eyes.

– And on page six there’s another sheer pocket.

Whew what a lengthy post. Tell me how you like it, I’d really appreciate it!!
BTW the babys name is Mathilda and she’s super cute and super tiny πŸ™‚
It’s late, ta ta for now!

P.S. The title’s from the lyrics of “La Lettre” by singer extraordinaire Renan Luce.

Colleagues! Non-flushing is terrorism!

This title was the subject of one of the spam-mails I got some weeks ago – I thought it was hilarious, so there you have it πŸ˜‰

Anyhow, I’m still visiting my mom (and I’m still sick), she had a great birthday and I managed to get the 24 layouts finished just in time. Stay tuned for pictures from the album, I’ll post them (one layout at a time) soon!

Here’s a list of random thoughts.

#1 – Some really enjoyable movies I watched recently: “Up” from Pixar (super hilarious, esp. if you’re a dog owner), “Benny & Joon” (from 1993 with a very young yet brilliant Johnny Depp) and “Me & Marley” (boy did I cry… is there anything sadder than a dying dog?!!).

#2 – My Google reader currently lists 431 unread articles. Apparently not being online for four days means loads of great stuff to read/see. {insert happy sigh}

#3 – I’m too sick to visit my cousin and her new baby. Dang. But I made her a video message (imagine a camera, lots of smiling and too much head wagging).

#4 – The semester starts in about a week and I have this kind of ambiguous feeling of looking forward to new challenges vs. being scared to death because of the expectations (of teachers, family, but probably of mostly myself).

#5 – I just bought my first-ever paper flowers (Generally not a big fan of Primas and such) – Sprites NΒ° 3. We’ll see how we get along πŸ˜‰

#6 – My printer refuses printing. The very moment the new semester starts I will have to print stuff (speeches etc.). This means buying a new one. Grrrrr-eat… What is it about all those expensive electronic devices dying?

#7 – In my next post there will be pictures of the baby album I made, so for now just a card (above: with siblings). Enjoy!

ETA: The idea for these cards came from those beauties by Dawn McVey.

Henrietta, we bought no flowers for you

I’m back πŸ™‚
Yep, just as announced, I stuck to my plan of MIA until everything was over. And I made it. On Wednesday I had my presentation and it went very well and just some hours ago I finished my essay.
Yee-haw, people!!

So, what happened in the meantime?

First of all, Buck turned three!!
(He got a big birthday bone which for me resulted in waking up to choking noises and other horrible things the next day, I’ll spare you the details.) The last year was not the best one for you, first moving then being diagnosed with Leishmaniasis… So here’s to hoping that the new year in your life will be much calmer and happier! Look at this little birthday boy:

Love you, cutie!

Next up, I wanted to show you the earrings I made with the help of my friend Anastasia while I was in my hometown over the weekend.

earrings june

I love them, they are so cool. Plus I made them. Which makes them even cooler. Whaddya think?

Last but not least a Thank You card I made for Kate & Steph over at the Passion for Papertrey blog and which – surprise – is made of items they sent me. I also made it with the new challenge in mind, which was to use buttons – easy peasy πŸ˜‰

button it challenge

If you have any questions, let me know.
Holidays start tomorrow, so I finally get around doing all the stuff that needs to be done (good intentions…) and creating some stuff as I’ve been yearning to craft for the last weeks…!!

See you soon!

There are many things that I am not

Hello everyone!

I would have posted earlier, but…
it’s the end of the semester and I have to meet some tough deadlines. So I won’t be posting much in the next time, sorry. OR I will be posting more than ever in the history of this blog-o, b/c I try to avoid doing what I am meant to do – we’ll see πŸ˜‰

On Saturday I got my goodies from the challenge over at Passion for Papertrey – yum YUM!
It was the first time I won and besides paper and ribbon I also got a very cute handmade card from Stephanie – who’ll hopefully soon announce where her new blog will be!!
Anyways, a huge THANK YOU goes to Steph and Kate for organizing the challenges and giving away those precious Papertrey items!

Of course I had to sit down and create something right away, so here’s a little card I made using the stuff I won:
lovebird felt

Whaddya think? The Dark Chocolate Cardstock as well as the Polka Dot Paper were in the lovely mail from the UK πŸ™‚ The day I made it, I made 7 cards in a row – I was on a roll…!

First was the following creation, made for the next Challenge over at A Passion For Papertrey: Use two flowers or more! I did so by using the flowers from PTIs Out on a Limb Set stamped in Landscape Palette Ink over Polka Dot Basics in Dark Chocolate plus the cutesy felt flower. The overall idea and layout came from Kristina Werners MACM Card.

In my next post I will show you pics from the earrings I made while staying in my hometown over the weekend, but this time I wanted to share three videos (1st one found via The Dingbats Agenda). They’re stop motion and seriously amazing. Enjoy & read you soon.

Feels just like it should

Tonight is a reaaaally good one πŸ™‚ We’re having some yummy homemade dinner, Kir PΓ©tillant and good conversation. Love it.
Of course I have to show you the card I made for the Passion for Papertrey Challenge. The girls challenged us to make round cards, so I made a birthday card for a friend using 1 1/4″ circles punched out of Papertreys exclusive Stampers Select White Cardstock.

blush birthday

The cute patterned paper is from Basic Grey (Blush & Offbeat) while the idea came from “A Year in Cards – February” by Kristina Werner.
Hope you like it!

Just overwhelmingly neat and sensational

It’s too damn hot to sleep!

How was your weekend?
Mine was fabulous in more ways than you can imagine. Hee.
Except for the facts that a) I didn’t get to sleep an awful lot and b) I have about a gazillion gnat bites. Well otherwise it would have been too perfect anyway πŸ˜‰

I got to make a card kit for a friends birthday using the All Boxed Up template from PTI. She’ll receive it tomorrow, so I can’t show it to you yet, but instead I can show you a similar kit I made some time ago for another birthday girl πŸ™‚

I made it using Basic Grey Offbeat Paper plus their matching stamp set “Farmers Market” as the main theme to tie everything together.
Other supplies are mainly from PTI, Stampin’ Up and Cosmo Cricket.
If you click on an image, you can see it in full and if you have any questions, don’t hestitate to leave a comment below πŸ™‚

Hope you like it and you have a fab, sunny day!
Talk to you soon!

Dance With Somebody

Happy Mothers Day everyone!

kwerner flowers
This is the card I sent my mom, if you think you’ve seen that before, you’re right. It’s a shameless CASE of Kristina’s Finally Friday Card “Flowers”. I loved it so much, I couldn’t resist. I hope my mom likes it, too πŸ™‚
So for all the Germans out there: don’t forget to give your mom a call and/or a hug today!

Concerning the title of this post: The girls and I went dancing yesterday, and there actually was GOOD MUSIC!!
(Words to live[dance] by: Gud music I dance, not gud music I not dance)

Yay for “Rollercoaster” party @ Karlstorbahnhof! Very cool stuff, finest Brit pop/rock etc.

But one thing about parties: I don’t know if it’s just me, but d’you know when people walk by you and of course the place is crowded. So when they try to squeeze past you, they put their hand onto your arm or back?!! I. Hate. That. Exclamation Point! Drives me crazy. Also reminds me of those slimy guys that try to tell you something by whispering in your ear, but they kinda cup your head in their hand, arrrgggh this is so disgusting! Makes me seriously aggressive. My message: NO. TOUCHY. Got it?

new home limb

Anyways πŸ˜€
The next card was made for the Passion for Papertrey: Recycle Challenge.

I’m not 100% happy with how the card turned out, but I’m showing it to you nonetheless.
The recycled part is of course the house cut out of old “Le Monde” news (from an edition printed on December 6th 1997! Hee).

Papertrey stuff: Dark Chocolate Ink (my all-time favourite!!!), Landscape Palette Ink, Out on a Limb Rev. Stamps and Dark Chocolate Satin Ribbon.
Maybe you like it more than I do, the friend I made it for definitely did, hehe. Mission accompli πŸ˜‰

I have to go for a walk with Buck now, have a great Sunday!

Love Potion NΒ°9

Hey everybody,
I have to apologize for yet another really quick post, I had a super lazy weekend (did nothing for the Monday Conference or anything else for uni *oops*) and before I finally fall asleep, I just wanted to show you the card I made with the “Passion for Papertrey” challenge in mind:

friend-challenge-dicker-vogel

The challenge was to make a card for a friend with at least one Papertrey Ink product. I incorporated: PTI Mixed Messages (“friend” & “birthday wishes”), PTI Polka Dot Basics and PTI Plum Pudding Double Stitched Grosgrain.

This card is from an ensemble I made for a friend, I’ll post some more photos of it probably later this week.

Have a good night!
