Hello there ๐
So, Mother’s Day was last Sunday and of course I thought about what would put a smile on my mom’s face.
Now she loves flowers and at some point she complained how in German, you don’t say “I love you” to your mom & family, because this is generally reserved for romantic love. German has “Ich habe dich lieb” for close family, a somewhat toned down version (more a “I am very fond of you” thing) which some believe is rather fitting for the German soul/style in general ๐
Well, in order to circumnavigate any linguistic pitfalls and make her truly happy on Mother’s Day, I decided to go bold and do a watercolor card as taught by the awesome Cathy Zielske here.
And yes, Cathy is partly responsible for me buying that gorgeous stamp set by Altenew (Beautiful Day) and very much responsible for me buying a fair amount of those a-ha-mazing Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers ๐ As she herself would tell you: Those pens are the shiiiizzz ๐
Now, onto the card:
I decided on a slightly softer version than the original, stitching a delicate frame with the sewing machine.ย Marker colors are Scarlet Red, Carmine Red and Mid Green.
I really played around with some different colors and different approaches to coloring the images – this one was done with some blotting off before going back in.
And as you can see, my mom got her “I love you” (sentiment by Ali Edwards), both on the card and in the words I wrote to her, to thank her from the bottom of my heart for all the things, big and small, that she’s done for me and us over the years. She’s an awesome mom โค
I’ll leave you with that and will see you soon with one of the next creations I have up my sleeve ๐
Wishing you a lovely long weekend,
Nina
