Mother’s Day

Hello there πŸ™‚

So, Mother’s Day was last Sunday and of course I thought about what would put a smile on my mom’s face.

Now she loves flowers and at some point she complained how in German, you don’t say “I love you” to your mom & family, because this is generally reserved for romantic love. German has “Ich habe dich lieb” for close family, a somewhat toned down version (more a “I am very fond of you” thing) which some believe is rather fitting for the German soul/style in general πŸ˜‰

Well, in order to circumnavigate any linguistic pitfalls and make her truly happy on Mother’s Day, I decided to go bold and do a watercolor card as taught by the awesome Cathy Zielske here.

And yes, Cathy is partly responsible for me buying that gorgeous stamp set by Altenew (Beautiful Day) and very much responsible for me buying a fair amount of those a-ha-mazing Zig Clean Color Real Brush markers πŸ˜€ As she herself would tell you: Those pens are the shiiiizzz πŸ˜‰

Now, onto the card:

I decided on a slightly softer version than the original, stitching a delicate frame with the sewing machine.Β Marker colors are Scarlet Red, Carmine Red and Mid Green.

I really played around with some different colors and different approaches to coloring the images – this one was done with some blotting off before going back in.

And as you can see, my mom got her “I love you” (sentiment by Ali Edwards), both on the card and in the words I wrote to her, to thank her from the bottom of my heart for all the things, big and small, that she’s done for me and us over the years. She’s an awesome mom ❀

I’ll leave you with that and will see you soon with one of the next creations I have up my sleeve πŸ™‚

Wishing you a lovely long weekend,
Nina

It’s aliiive (cue Bach’s Toccata)

So, it’s been a while, huh? πŸ˜€

I have, in fact, not vanished from the face of the earth. I have simply not really made a lot of cards and whenever I did, I forgot to take a picture (which means I was either last-minute or too lazy to take a decent one, let’s face it…).

Freelancing – which sounds so much more relaxed than it really is – has also meant that I have not been creating a lot or at all.

It seems I have now found some of my mojo again and so without further ado, here is a new card I recently made:

It’s always good to have a masculine birthday card on hand – and wouldn’t you know it, this one is already on its way to the recipient!

The recipe is easy – some pale green CS from Artoz, a WRMK embossing folder, steel dies are Kesi’Art (Feuille Edwin) and Papertrey Ink (Birthday), Savvy Stamps stamp (Avery Elle Fog ink) plus some Studio Calico Mister Huey’s in Mint Julep and Lunchtray. Topped it off with some machine stitching and that was all.

I have to say I am on a bit of a roll with cardmaking again, which makes me really happy πŸ™‚

So stay tuned, because there are quite a few more creations I made (and keep making) that I’d like to share with you in the weeks to come.

See ya!
Nina
