The change in my pocket

Hey there!

I just got back from a long weekend in Brunswick (northern Germany), visiting my brother. It wouldn’t necessarily come to mind, but Brunswick really is a pretty city (the old town is quite charming). I thought the fall weather and colourful leaves suited it rather well :)

The day before I got there, Nico and I carved a pumpkin:

Our idea was to make it to look kinda like Jack Skellington from the Nightmare before Christmas, so I googled around and we ended up designing the face to resemble this one found on HaikuHeidi’s flickr photostream (we didn’t quite dare to try the Oogie Boogie one, we thought we’d leave that one to the pro’s ;) ). Whaddya think?

Recently, I also made the odd card, like the two you can see on Dana’s new post. Among them, there’s this little birthday number:

I really like how this turned out and here’s the link to the original from Sarah Martina Parker that I drew the inspiration from. I’m glad Dana liked it, too :)

Spending time with my brother also means watching cool movies and some Youtube stuff, just wanted to share my faves with you before I have to pop off:

That’s all, have a great week & see you soon!

Nina

I don’t beg, I don’t borrow, I steal.

Nice lyrics, aye? And she can sing, too. NOT FAIR. ;)

How’s your weekend been? Over here in autumnal Germany we did some planting, some pumpkin soup cooking and the odd translation thrown in to torture me for good measure. Gotta get my olde self back into shape for the semester, otherwise there won’t be any thesis-writing, but rather there’ll be my arch enemy called procrastination – and one thing is for sure: I can’t afford that.

I got two things to show you today: Firstly, I made some wedding invitation cards for a friend.

They had to be simple and mailable while being appropriate for the occasion. The cardstock & flower stamps are from Stampin’ Up, the alphabet is American Crafts, the ampersand is from Studio Calico. Ink was Staz-on Stone Grey as well as Berry Sorbet, Raspberry Fizz  and Certainly Celery. The butterflies were punched from patterned paper by Basic Grey (Bittersweet), Cosmo Cricket (Early Bird) and October Afternoon (Cherry Hill).  The two lower corners were rounded using the Corner Chomper from We R Memory Keepers. That’s all there is to it :)

On a more christmas-sy note, I did totally not show you all the stuff I made for Christmas last year and since time is ticking away (only 2 more months, can you believe it? Soon I’ll be digging out Xmas carols again, wow) I though I’d start sharing some more.
Here are some ornaments I made using plain wooden trinkets from Ikea (I’ve not seen them there this year, unfortunately):

I made two or three more that I didn’t give away and still need to take pictures of. These are really inexpensive gifts and everyone loved them, so maybe you’ll give it a whirl this season. If you have any questions, let me know.

Oh well, I’ll better get some rest, got early lectures tomorrow.
See you!!
Nina

Tightrope

What a great song & video…!

I’m finally posting again. Man, I seem to be better at making things than photographing and posting them. I should definitely work on that. I made quite some stuff in the last weeks, especially from fabric and felt (but also some cards).

Today I just wanted to show you this lovely card my friend Dana made:

Along with this cutie patootie card came some doodads that I had admired on her creations – she just offered to send some my way.

Positively enabling, don’t you think? She’s such a peach! And yes, there’s a little peek at my new crafting space and one of the aforementioned fabric items ;)

On a different note, the big move is now coming to an end, since  tomorrow, all of the crap stuff that has been blocking our living room will finally be cleared out. I’m SO looking forward to that. Yesterday we planted the first flower bulbs on our terrace and on Monday, lectures will start again. Time to get into the rut again, huh ;)

And today I made a major purchase: my new winter coat. It’s red, it’s hooded, it’s cozy – it will look SO awesome going for a walk in the snow with my white wolf – just like Red Riding Hood ^^ (remind me to take some pics!!) Speaking of Buck – a week ago we celebrated his 3 year “anniversary” with us :) This time though I did not make the mistake of buying him a huge bone only to find him vomiting and having diarrhea for the next two days. This time I gave to him the gift of peace (no bone – no sickness) and big walks in the windy fields.

Anyway, it’s late, I had wine and I need to go to bed ;)

See you soon (sooner than last time, I promise!)

Xoxo – Nina
