Leaving on a jet plane

Hey there!
How are you? It’s been way busy over here, for the last weeks I’ve been running around like a headless chicken and there’s no end in sight. Well actually, that’s untrue. The end will come on February 19th which will apparently be the day I get on a plane and fly far, faaaar away (Auckland and Heidelberg are precisely 18,244 km apart). So, now you know. I still don’t know how I am supposed to survive without my crafting stuff though (there’s a limit of 30 kg plus 7 kg hand luggage). Not for more than two weeks… and certainly not for five months.

Meet today’s card, it’s a sweet mix of Cosmo Cricket and PTI goodness. Rustic Cream cardstock, some Early Bird patterned paper, clear embossed polka dots and BG chipboard letters – voilà!

Anyway, gotta go, still lots of work to do, people to call, forms to fill in… you get the picture.

Color Inspiration #57

Thanks to ever busy Kristina, there’s another colour challenge!
I decided to take part despite the – for me – difficult colours.

Yep, those are six (okay, minus the neutral white there are five) colours, including mustard and red, whew.
Since I needed to stock up my stash of Thank You cards, here’s my take on the challenge:

I used my new Martha Stewart punch “Medium Glacial Snowflake” (super cute) and some patterned paper (MME Andrea Victoria, MME Bloom & Grow, Stampin’ Up So Saffron, PTI Pink Patterns, PTi Bitty Box Basics) to punch out the snowflakes, adhered them to a 4 1/2 inch square card (SU Whisper White CS) with 3D Glue Dots and stamped the sentiment (PTI Beyond Basic Borders) in L’Amour Red ink (PTI) before providing a finishing touch by rounding the corners with the 1/2 inch side of my beloved Corner Chomper.

I tried my best with the pictures, but it’s grey and snowing outside…

EBKTS Challenge

Hey there!
Just a quick post to show you the card I made for the current EBKTS Challenge.

I’m sorry for the crappy lighting, it’s about half past ten over here and snow keeps falling outside. Maybe I’ll exchange the picture tomorrow (if the sun is shining or even if there’s any light at all…).

The challenge was to use wrapping paper, which seems really appropriate after the holidays.
The ruffles on this card are therefore made of IKEA wrapping paper. The card base is PTI Rustic Cream, rhinestones are from BG, the patterned paper is from Cosmo Cricket. The tree stamp is PTI as well while the sentiment is American Crafts. Inks are Palette Noir and VersaColor Sage.

BTW this is the last card my poor little broken Corner rounder punch was used for. It will rest now and the indeed very cool Corner Chomper will fill its place. Such a great tool, I’m all excited…

I wish I was someone better

How’ve you been? I hope you’re off to a great start for the New Year!
I’m back at home after the Christmas celebrations – did you have a great time, too?
My Christmas was lovely, I had so much fun seeing my family and some friends.

I wanted to share with you a selection of this year’s Xmas cards (41 altogether).
There’ll be some cards you have already seen, but without further ado – here are my 15 favourites from Christmas 2009:

(#4) And finally the last card you will recognize from a post on my blog, made for the Moxie Fab Challenge “Christmas in the Old Country”.

(#5) This little round card has its “bigger brother” over here at Kristina’s blog, Holiday Card Series Day 6. I love love LOVE this tree. So adorable.

(#6) The inspiring example here was this card from Kelly Marie aka Lawn Fawn Cards. Love the simplicity and effectiveness of using all the different patterns. Plus this card is flat enough for mailing!

(#7) Another one from Kristina Werner’s Holiday Card Series – this time from Day 22. The colour scheme is pretty untraditional, PTI’s Saddle Stitch Ribbon in Lemon Tart is a perfect match!

(#8) If this one looks familiar to you, it might be that you’ve seen Day 21 of the Holiday Card Series from Kristina Werner.

(#9) This one’s a looser interpretation of Day 14 of the Holiday Card Series. If you like, here’s a detail picture.

(#10) The background of this card was embossed with glittery clear embossing powder (shortly before my heat gun died…), unfortunately you can’t really see that in the picture. It’s also a pretty straight forward CASE of Day 23 from Kristinas HCS.

(#11) That one is based upon this non-holiday card by Kelly Rasmussen. Just changed the butterflies to snowflakes and voilà!

(#12) This card isn’t based on anything, really. I needed some cards that were flat enough for the snail mail and this is my very favourite one, I think. It’s very sparkly IRL (see the sparkle in this picture?) and I wrote the sentiment myself

(#13) This was one of my absolute faves from Kristina’s HCS – Day 12. Love the stripes, the buttons, the snowflakes, the sentiment, the colours – everything, really.

(#14) I’m not sure where I got the inspiration for this card from, might have been several cards from the HCS as well… I also wanted to break out my silver embossing powder! All in all I think this one turned out pretty masculine, I kinda like the look

(#15) Last but most certainly not least, one of my top 3 this Christmas – based on Day 4 of the Holiday Card Series from Kristina. Here and here are close-ups of this card.
